About Us

The Surrey Pipe Band was formed in 1997 after a group of enthusiastic pipers and drummers, who made up the Surrey Highland Bagpipe Club, realised they had the beginnings of a band. The band soon moved out of their cramped meeting place in Ash to their current band headquarters at the Courtenay Free Church in Woking.

The band was made up of both experienced and learner pipers and drummers and soon had a number of people who wished to play both pipes and drums. As the band progressed they found themselves playing at some very prestigious events and venues, such as the Albert Hall, Earl’s Court and the NEC Birmingham.

The band over the years has performed for, and with, many celebrities in a wide variety of venues. The main aim of the band is to entertain and to promote piping and drumming in the South of England. The band encourages new members both young and not so young! and is happy to help with any teaching requirements. The band always aims to produce the highest quality of both sound and performance whenever they are together on a parade, an engagement or whilst playing at a practice. The achievement of this aim has placed the band in great demand.
